Electrical System Design Engineer
South Wales (commutable from Brecon area)
Up to £45,000 depending on experience
A long-established and growing engineering organisation-now proudly employee-owned-is looking to add an Electrical System Design Engineer to its expanding team. The company is recognised for delivering high-quality engineered products and offers a supportive, collaborative environment with strong long-term stability.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing bespoke electrical systems for specialist engineered equipment, taking projects from concept through to commissioning while working closely with project managers, engineers and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
Produce electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using CAD tools
Specify components such as PLCs, sensors, actuators and switchgear
Ensure all electrical designs meet relevant safety standards and regulations
Support manufacturing, test, build, and commissioning teams
Contribute to quotations, manuals, and wider technical documentation
Assist with component selection and purchasing activities
Provide technical support to internal sales, service and engineering colleagues
About You
Experience in electrical system design within machinery, equipment, or industrial automation
Strong understanding of control panel design and machine safety principles
Competent with electrical CAD software and industry standards
PLC programming experience is beneficial but not essential
Proactive, collaborative, and able to communicate clearly across departments
